Finding our masculinity.
When we began this project, we began filming interviews with those interested in a traditional manner. This means we recorded one-on-one conversations, as we began deconstructing recurring themes and building parameters around safety and comfort, together, on both sides of the lens.
These individual conversations are a lovely representation of the queer BIPOC men out in the world, who are making things more colorful, more thoughtful, and even when they least realize it, providing examples of being individuals who stand by equity, diversity and inclusion for those who may be looking up at them and mimicking their moves.
These pensive reflections are a great invitation to understand that, beyond thematic editing or organizing by us through the post-production process, every person has a story. All of these conversations are with men - trans, queer, and cis - who identify as BIPOC, and, or immigrants in the United Statian experience.
